Softball Game Preview: Edison Vikings vs. Chavez Titans

The Edison Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Chavez Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Edison came up short against Tokay on Tuesday, falling 9-1. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Chavez hadn't done well against Bear Creek recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Titans walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bruins.

Natalia Dias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chavez saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That's the most hits Rodriguez has posted since back in March. Alexyz Rico also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The win got Chavez back to even at 12-12. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Edison came up short against Chavez when the teams last played back in March, falling 10-6. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
