Softball Recap: Gillespie's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Gillespie dropped their record down to 20-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Calhoun Warriors by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Miners were not able to get on the board.

As for Calhoun, they pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.

For Calhoun's part, the result came thanks to Audrey Gilman's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. Gilman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 23 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Calhoun's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anabel Eilerman, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Coming up, Gillespie will be playing at home against East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
