The Center Roughriders will take on the North DeSoto Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Center made easy work of Spring Hill and carried off a 49-28 victory. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Panthers are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Center had a senior duo take command as Travis Belin threw for 427 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt and Timothy Johnson picked up 294 receiving yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Belin is now averaging an impressive 348 passing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Ratcliff, who picked up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, North DeSoto took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 33-21 win over Union Parish.

A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Luke Delafield and his top target Cole Cory. Delafield threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes while Cory picked up 196 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North DeSoto was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 574 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Parish only gained 307.

Center came up short against North DeSoto in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, falling 57-52. Thankfully for Center, Trysten Hopper (who rushed for 153 yards and five touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
