Prairie Heights is 1-9 against Churubusco since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Prairie Heights will be strutting in after a win while Churubusco will be coming in after a loss.
Prairie Heights barely beat Lakewood Park Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Prairie Heights was the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over Lakewood Park Christian on Saturday. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for Prairie Heights this season.
Gavin Garman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Hayward, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Lakyn Duke was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Prairie Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood Park Christian only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Churubusco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to West Noble.
The victory made it two in a row for Prairie Heights and bumps their season record up to 3-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Churubusco, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Prairie Heights has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Churubusco struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Prairie Heights came up short against Churubusco in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
