Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland Wildcats vs. Flour Bluff Hornets

Gregory-Portland fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Flour Bluff on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flour Bluff Hornets by a score of 9-8. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Audrey Diercks was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Keith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
