The Pocono Mountain East Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Northampton Konkrete Kids at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pocono Mountain East has four straight victories, Northampton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Pocono Mountain East nor Whitehall made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Zephyrs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since March 19th.
Camryn Sopko was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sopko was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Freedom hit Northampton with a seven-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Konkrete Kids came up short against the Patriots, falling 10-0. Konkrete Kids fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Patriots since on Saturday.
Northampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Hensel, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Pocono Mountain East's record is now 9-4. As for Northampton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Pocono Mountain East came out on top in a nail-biter against Northampton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
