Softball Game Preview: Camden Central Lions vs. McKenzie Rebels

The Camden Central Lions will head out on the road to take on the McKenzie Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Camden Central made easy work of Harpeth and carried off an 11-5 victory.

Meanwhile, McKenzie got the win against McEwen back in March by a conclusive 10-3. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by exactly seven runs.

Aurora Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Stafford, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Aubrey Jackson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Stafford wasn't the only one making solid contact: McKenzie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McEwen only managed six hits.

The win made it two in a row for McKenzie and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Camden Central, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
