Basketball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

Hopewell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Mallard Creek Mavericks 76-21. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hopewell lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being MOLLY HOWE, who posted eight points.

Kiara Anderson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals for Mallard Creek. Anderson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elle Stone, who had ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Mallard Creek, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Hopewell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-26 victory against Sugar Creek Charter on the 21st. As for Mallard Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-46 win against NC GBB Academy National on the 26th.
