Baseball Game Preview: Monarch Coyotes vs. Longmont Trojans

The Monarch Coyotes will venture away from home to face off against the Longmont Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monarch will be strutting in after a victory while Longmont will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Monarch beat Skyline 6-1.

Evan DiCarlo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Monarch is 2-1 when DiCarlo allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blake Lehrer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zander Belland, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Centaurus hit Longmont with a six-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans lost 11-1 to the Warriors. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monarch's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Longmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
