Recap: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Carthage Bulldogs
The Gilmer Buckeyes extended their postseason success on Friday against the Carthage Bulldogs. They skirted past the Bulldogs 47-44. Winning may never get old, but Gilmer sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gilmer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cadon Tennison, who threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Will Henderson was in the mix too, providing Gilmer with two touchdowns.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was KJ Edwards, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Bradan Manning was another key contributor, picking up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Gilmer pushed their record up to 11-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Carthage, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-1.
Gilmer will head out on the road to face off against Glen Rose at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glen Rose knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Gilmer likes a good challenge. Carthage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
