Volleyball Recap: Greater Nanticoke Area Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Greater Nanticoke Area came back down to earth. The Trojans lost 3-0 to the Tunkhannock Tigers on Tuesday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-11, 25-16.

Haley Verazin paced Greater Nanticoke Area's offense, picking up seven kills. Verazin got some help from Amiah Ceruti and her 15 assists. Ceruti was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

With the loss, Greater Nanticoke Area broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4. As for Tunkhannock, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Greater Nanticoke Area will head out to square off against Holy Redeemer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tunkhannock, they will welcome Montrose at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
