Basketball Game Preview: Palmer Tigers vs. Cedar Bluffs Wildcats

Palmer is on a three-game streak of home losses, Cedar Bluffs a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Palmer is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Heartland Lutheran on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Palmer was dealt a 71-34 defeat at the hands of Heartland Lutheran. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

Meanwhile, Cedar Bluffs didn't have quite enough to beat Newman Grove/St. Edward on Friday and fell 45-43. The Wildcats were up 27-13 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Palmer will have to keep a close watch on Carter Eiring and Dawson Novotny, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cedar Bluffs' prior game. Eiring went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points and five boards, while Novotny posted 17 points. That was a full 39.5% of Cedar Bluffs' points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Palmer's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Cedar Bluffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Things could have been worse for Palmer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Cedar Bluffs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Palmer, Mason Christensen (who scored 20 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
