Recap: Eldorado Sundevils vs. Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights
After flying high against the Cristo Rey St. Viator Royals last Tuesday, the Eldorado Sundevils came back down to earth. Eldorado was outmatched by Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the road and fell 71-44. Eldorado was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.
Despite the loss, Eldorado saw an underclassman step up: Robert "RJ" Waddell scored 18 points along with two steals. Waddell hasn't dropped below 15 points for 15 straight games. Eric Lechuga was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Eldorado's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Eldorado won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Somerset Sky Pointe at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Somerset Sky Pointe is coming into the game with four straight losses at home, meaning Eldorado will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will head out on the road to challenge Virgin Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Mater Academy East Las Vegas is ranked 23rd, while Virgin Valley is ranked 41st).
