Baseball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Raleigh Lions

The Stringer Red Devils will square off against the Raleigh Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Stringer has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with eight straight losses, while Raleigh will come in with four straight victories.

Stringer is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Puckett on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Raleigh won against Scott Central on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Pelahatchie. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Aiden Laird made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Laird was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Raleigh let Ollie Owens and Deuce Carter run wild. Owens went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Carter went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Owens has snagged this season. Peyson Barnes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Raleigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive games.

Stringer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Raleigh, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Stringer got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2023 against Raleigh by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
