Softball Recap: McNair Eagles vs. Weston Ranch Cougars
If McNair was riding high fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Franklin on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Weston Ranch Cougars by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 back in March.
Celina Valadez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Messiyah Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
McNair dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Weston Ranch, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.
McNair and Weston Ranch could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Eagles will take on Tokay at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (960 vs. 455). Meanwhile, Weston Ranch (ranked 938th) will meet Bear Creek (ranked 343rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
