Softball Recap: La Joya's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Joya). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over the Hanna Golden Eagles on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Coyotes have won by exactly two runs.

Merelly Rodriguez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Jasmin Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

La Joya always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

La Joya's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Hanna, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8-1.

Looking ahead, La Joya will face off against Weslaco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hanna, they will square off against Hidalgo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
