Preview: Oakwood Panthers vs. Penelope Wolverines
Oakwood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Penelope Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oakwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Last Friday, Oakwood strolled past Bynum with points to spare, taking the game 44-25.
Jacee Youngblood was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Rai'Miaya Winston, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Penelope suffered their biggest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They were beaten by Avalon 48-7. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Penelope has scored all season.
Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Penelope, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Oakwood took their win against Penelope in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 44-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oakwood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
