Soccer Game Preview: Belleville East vs. Belleville West

A classic East v. West matchup is on the schedule. The Belleville East Lancers will face off against the Belleville West Maroons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Belleville East is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to seven goals on Friday, they were much more limited against O'Fallon on Monday. They lost 4-0 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Belleville East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 68th, while O'Fallon are ranked third).

Despite a strong season so far, Belleville West has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Father McGivney Catholic.

Belleville West's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6-1. As for Belleville East, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-9-1 record.

Belleville East couldn't quite get it done against Belleville West in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 3-1. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
