Volleyball Recap: Wayland Academy Comes Up Short

Wayland Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Williams Bay Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Big Red of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Reina Schroeckenthaler paced Wayland Academy's offense, picking up nine kills. Schroeckenthaler got some help from Ella Kikkert and her 21 assists. Schroeckenthaler also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ariel Battey, each putting up three.

Wayland Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Williams Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Wayland Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hustisford on the 11th. As for Williams Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against Catholic Central at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
