Recap: Middle Creek Mustangs vs. Apex Cougars
The Middle Creek Mustangs came tearing into Friday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Apex by a score of 43-33. Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Apex is ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joi Pergerson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Alysia Pergerson, who scored seven points along with seven steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Pease, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Middle Creek's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Apex, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middle Creek will take on Green Level at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Apex, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Green Hope at 6:30 p.m.
