Volleyball Recap: San Diego Jewish Academy Lions vs. Calvin Christian Crusaders
San Diego Jewish Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Calvin Christian Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
While San Diego Jewish Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Calvin Christian work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17, 27-25.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvin Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaidance Katje, who had 14 digs and four aces. Katje is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Lucy Gordon was another key player, getting nine kills and six digs.
San Diego Jewish Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Calvin Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Diego Jewish Academy will take on rival Coastal Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Calvin Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Escondido Adventist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
