Basketball Game Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Davie War Eagles

The R.J. Reynolds Demons will square off against the Davie War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for R.J. Reynolds: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Davie has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.

R.J. Reynolds is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Reagan on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. R.J. Reynolds was beaten by Reagan 73-29. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Raiders are ranked 183rd).

Meanwhile, Davie took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 72-39 win over Glenn. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Davie is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for R.J. Reynolds, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.

R.J. Reynolds was dealt a bruising 65-21 loss at the hands of Davie when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point R.J. Reynolds was down 36-5.
