Softball Recap: Gilroy's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Gilroy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Willow Glen Rams by a score of 4-3. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ariela Yslava put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Yslava wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dani Wilson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Gilroy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Willow Glen, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilroy will welcome Hollister at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Willow Glen, they will take on Monterey in a tournament on Saturday.
