Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia Central). They blew past the East Jackson Trojans 18-3 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Nick Wilding was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Denning, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Columbia Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Columbia Central pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Jackson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Columbia Central is taking a road trip to take on Decatur at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for East Jackson, they will be playing at home against Taylor Prep on Saturday.
