Recap: IDEA Frontier College Prep vs. Lyford Bulldogs
After flying high against the IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks last Friday, IDEA Frontier College Prep came back down to earth. IDEA Frontier College Prep took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lyford on Friday. IDEA Frontier College Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lyford apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why IDEA Frontier College Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Victor Mendez. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds. Mendez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 14 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Maldonado, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
IDEA Frontier College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Lyford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Frontier College Prep will face off against IDEA Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Riverview is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Lyford, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
