Basketball Recap: Israel Herrera Jr. and Mitchel Collins Secure Win for Walden Grove

Walden Grove posted their biggest win since December 5th on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks as the Walden Grove Red Wolves made off with a 70-50 victory. Given the Red Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Walden Grove to victory were Mitchel Collins and Israel Herrera Jr.. Collins posted 14 points, while Herrera Jr. earned 15 points. Another player making a difference was Asa Rupp, who had ten points.

Walden Grove's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Desert Sunrise, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Walden Grove has already played their next contest, an 88-49 victory against NFL Yet Academy on the 28th. As for Desert Sunrise, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Yuma is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.
