Volleyball Recap: River Ridge Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, River Ridge couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 3-0 to the McIntosh Chiefs on Saturday. Considering the last time the Knights couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

While River Ridge was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into McIntosh's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why River Ridge lost, don't look at Olivia Philpot. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs. Philpot has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.

River Ridge's defeat ended a six-match streak of away wins and brought them to 28-8. As for McIntosh, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 39-9 record this season.

River Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McIntosh, they will face off against South Effingham at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
