Softball Game Preview: Rock Hill Bearcats vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

Rock Hill is 0-10 against Fort Mill since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rock Hill Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rock Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against South Pointe on Monday as Rock Hill made off with a 19-3 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bearcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Skylar Sowell was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madelyn McManus, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Rock Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pointe only posted an OBP of .471.

Meanwhile, Fort Mill had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past Chester 7-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellow Jackets as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Haley Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brooke Roserio was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Verastegui, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rock Hill's record now sits at 3-6. As for Fort Mill, their record now sits at 1-0.

Rock Hill might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Fort Mill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Rock Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
