Mitchell hasn't had much luck against Jefferson recently, but that could start to change  on Tuesday. The Kernels will welcome the Cavaliers  at 6:30  p.m. Mitchell is coming into the  match hot, having won their last five games.
Mitchell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of South Dakota's top teams: Stevens, who was ranked seventh  at the time (Mitchell was ranked 22nd). The Kernels won by a  set and slipped past the Raiders  3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
 If you add up the scores from across all five sets (115-109) Mitchell actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 28-26, 18-25, 20-25,  16-14.
 Mitchell found their leader in sophomore  Londyn Hajek, who  had ten  digs and three  assists. Another player making a difference was  Cassidy Korzan, who  had eight  digs and three  aces.
Meanwhile, Jefferson made easy work of Brookings  on Tuesday and carried off  a  3-0 win. The  victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won six in a row.
 Jefferson's got stronger as the match went on, holding Brookings to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18,  25-11.
 Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
 Mitchell might still be hurting after the  3-0 loss they got from Jefferson  in their previous matchup  back in October of 2024. Will the Kernels have more luck at home instead of on the road?
