Tarboro took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rocky Mount Gryphons with a sharp 18-9 win. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 9-2 victory the Gryphons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.
Cole Craddock made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Mason Satterfield was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Rome Day, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.
Rocky Mount's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tarboro will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against SouthWest Edgecombe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. SouthWest Edgecombe will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Tarboro surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rocky Mount, they will venture away from home to challenge Beddingfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky Mount is facing Beddingfield at the right time seeing as Beddingfield is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
