Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Otay Ranch

Otay Ranch won the last time they faced Hilltop and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 8-4. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Fernando Tovalin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlos Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Nick Mendoza, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Otay Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Otay Ranch's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hilltop, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-19.

As of now, neither Otay Ranch nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
