Baseball Recap: Live Oak Takes a Loss

Live Oak came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to the Lincoln Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Acorns of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2016.

Nathan Newberg was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Casey Scannell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

With the defeat, Live Oak broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

While Live Oak had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
