Softball Recap: Olean Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Olean put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Salamanca Warriors get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Emma Edwards made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Finch1 was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Hirliman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Olean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Olean pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Salamanca, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Olean will take on rival Allegany-Limestone at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Salamanca is set to challenge their familiar foe Dunkirk at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
