Rogers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Wayzata Trojans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royals have posted since October 12, 2024.

Rogers had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 17-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-11.

Kendyl Dawson paced Rogers' offense, picking up 15 kills. Dawson got some help from Emily Hoyt and her 23 assists. Dawson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Rogers will take on Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wayzata, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
