Softball Recap: Wewahitchka Takes a Loss

Wewahitchka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holmes County Blue Devils. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Severa Haney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Wewahitchka saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubry Bailey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wewahitchka's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Holmes County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Coming up, Wewahitchka will challenge Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holmes County, they will venture away from home to challenge Wakulla at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The War Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
