Baseball Recap: Sperry Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Sperry's offense. They lost 9-0 to the Dewar Dragons on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Isaac Sherill was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Sperry and nudges their season record down to 7-12. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Dewar, the win keeps they at an undefeated 25-0.

Coming up, Sperry will venture away from home to face off against Adair at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Dewar, they will welcome Glenpool at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
