Softball Recap: Lakeside Lutheran Comes Up Short

Lakeside Lutheran fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Whitewater on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Whippets by a score of 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two runs.

Lakeside Lutheran dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Whitewater, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Lakeside Lutheran will face off against Stoughton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whitewater, they will square off against Lake Country Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Whippets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
