Basketball Recap: Central City Picks Up Ninth Straight Win on the Road

Central City put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 33-25 win over the Centura Centurions. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Centurions are ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydni Homolka, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Call, who posted eight points and three steals.

Central City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Central City's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Centura, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.

Central City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-50 defeat against Minden on the 17th. As for Centura, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-42 win against Fillmore Central on the 14th.
