Baseball Recap: Neuse Charter Cougars vs. Hobbton Wildcats        
        
		
            
 Neuse Charter was the  9-3 winner over Hobbton when they last played one another  back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Neuse Charter Cougars fell  8-4 to the Hobbton Wildcats on Tuesday. Neuse Charter has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Alex Candes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he  tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   three  hits. Candes was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
 Candes wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Connor Phillips, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Eli Edwards, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.
 Like Neuse Charter, Hobbton also got a great game from a two-way player:  Garret Britt. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  4.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. Britt was even better at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 5-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted  at least one  stolen base the last seven times he's  played.
 In other pitching news,  Lathan Warren looked comfortable as he  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits.
 Back at the plate,  Cole Weeks was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.  Aydan Lawson was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases.
 Neuse Charter's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hobbton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
 Coincidentally,  both teams will both be playing Rosewood the next time they take the field. Hobbton will head out to face Rosewood at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday, while Neuse Charter will head out to face them  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
