Softball Recap: Voyager Academy Comes Up Short

Voyager Academy had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it six. They came up short against the Oxford Prep Griffins, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 16-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Oxford Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Oxford Prep's part, Addyson Faucette tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Faucette has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marleigh Swanner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mileena Webb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oxford Prep beat Voyager Academy by a score of 3-2 later that day.
