Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dessary Ochoa and Kassandra Aguilera

Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Desert Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Saturday.

While Chaparral was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-10, 25-22.

Chaparral's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kassandra Aguilera, who had 21 digs and two assists, and Dessary Ochoa, who had 14 digs and five assists. Aguilera has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Leading Santa Teresa to victory were Avery Garcia and Zuleyma Leon. Garcia had 11 digs and five assists, while Leon had ten assists and three digs. Those ten assists gave Leon a new career-high.

Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Santa Teresa, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Chaparral wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Silver on the 8th. As for Santa Teresa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Deming on the 8th.
