Baseball Recap: Bastrop Takes a Loss

Bastrop fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pflugerville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pflugerville Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Mason Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Val Regalado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Bastrop has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. Pflugerville's win bumped their record up to 5-7-1.

While Bastrop had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
