Softball Recap: Delaware Valley's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Delaware Valley dropped their record down to 11-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Valley View Cougars, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in April.

As for Valley View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

For Valley View's part, Delaware Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Taylor Cawley, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Cawley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kalli Karwowski, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maggie Hallett, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delaware Valley will face off against North Pocono at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valley View, they will challenge Lake-Lehman at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 1.4, the Knights 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
