Basketball Recap: Valley Forge Military Academy Comes Up Short

Valley Forge Military Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 86-33 loss at the hands of the Chester Charter Scholars Academy Sabers. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Sabers are ranked 140th).

Chester Charter Scholars Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maurice Barnes, who went 7 for 8 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Barnes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Hutson, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and three steals.

Valley Forge Military Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Chester Charter Scholars Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Valley Forge Military Academy has already played their next match (against Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Chester Charter Scholars Academy will head out on the road to challenge Jenkintown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chester Charter Scholars Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Jenkintown likes a good challenge.
