San Marcos waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 67-56 victory over the Roosevelt Rough Riders. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roosevelt's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cobi Posas, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Darreon Wheaton, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 16 points. Posas' afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Sutherland, who posted nine points.

San Marcos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points per game. As for Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos will venture away from home to take on Ventura at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Roosevelt, they will face off against Stockdale at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
