Preview: Farmington Farmers vs. Monmouth-Roseville Titans
The Farmington Farmers will head out on the road to face off against the Monmouth-Roseville Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Farmington is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Monmouth-Roseville in Illinois (Farmington is ranked 49th, while Monmouth-Roseville is ranked 127th).
Farmington unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tremont.
Meanwhile, Monmouth-Roseville earned a 55-48 win over Mercer County on Tuesday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monmouth-Roseville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darrion Smith, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds. The contest was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Thompson , who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Their wins bumped Farmington to 3-1 and Tremont to 5-0.
Farmington won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, slipping by Monmouth-Roseville 42-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Farmington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
