Mingus extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 24-21 heartbreaker at the hands of the Flagstaff Eagles. On the bright side, the 21- point effort marked the Marauders' highest-scoring game to date.
Hunter Bejarano threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Remington Stokes was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. On the ground, Ryan Sousa rushed for 54 yards on only six carries.
As for Flagstaff, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7. The victory was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Flagstaff's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Teyan Clerry led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and one score. Clerry also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.
