Basketball Game Preview: Sabine Pass Sharks vs. Danbury Panthers

The Sabine Pass Sharks will venture away from home to square off against the Danbury Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sabine Pass will be strutting in after a victory while Danbury will be coming in after a defeat.

Sabine Pass will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 52) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past West Hardin 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted against the Oilers since January 26, 2021.

Sabine Pass' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devin Roberts, who went 5 for 12 en route to 16 points. Daiven Miller was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Danbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Evadale 85-23. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1286th, while the Rebels are ranked 483rd).

Sabine Pass is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Danbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-12.
