Recap: Latta Vikings vs. Hannah-Pamplico Raiders
The Latta Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Hannah-Pamplico with points to spare, taking the game 50-32. The victory was just what Latta needed coming off of a 71-40 defeat in their prior game.
Shawniza Bethea continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Latta's points. Another player making a difference was Anziya Jones, who scored eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Hannah-Pamplico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayla Graham. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Graham is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season.
Latta's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Hannah-Pamplico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Latta is on the road again on Friday and plays Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Latta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Hannah-Pamplico, they will head out on the road to challenge Green Sea Floyds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
