Soccer Game Preview: Basalt vs. Steamboat Springs

The Basalt Longhorns will head out to square off against the Steamboat Springs Sailors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Basalt managed to slip by Middle Park the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Longhorns lost 3-0 to the Panthers on Saturday. Basalt fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Middle Park since on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Steamboat Springs kept a clean sheet against Rifle last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 10-0 victory. Steamboat Springs haven't had any issues with Rifle recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 2-7-3. As for Steamboat Springs, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Basalt might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Steamboat Springs when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
